Thoughts and Prayers – Wishing You Well

After so many cards being on the internet, I finally had to break down and bring this beautiful ribbon home.  Stampin’ Up!’s distinktive stamps do create wonderful images that just pop out of the page.

We created this card in a recent class because the holidays are coming and whether we like it or not, quite often you find yourself needing a card like this but don’t have the time to make it.  Sympathy and get well cards should always have a place in your stash.

Country Home for Giving Thanks

A new group of crafters has come my way.  These young ladies have already got busy lives but are always looking for something more!  ENSS (our local high school) has become the home to Lunch Break Cards.  Once a month I will bring them a seasonal project that they can complete in their half hour break.

As with many young crafters they like to take what’s given to them and forge their own path.  I provide a specific pack of paper, some suggestions and then let them go to town.

This time I took them the Country Home stamp set and this paper pack:

I reviewed how to stamp the images together and showed them a couple of things about how my cards went together.  These were my samples:

The ladies worked hard to get their projects done and then practically ran out of the room to get to the next thing on their list.  Great fun was had but I’ll have to try harder to get pictures of their finished product.

Petal Promenade Wedding

Every time I see a new catalogue it amazes me the advances that are made in our Designer Series Paper.  They keep getting more and more beautiful.  The latest trend is live photography meaning that the DSP is actually a picture of real things.  Petal Promenade is an excellent example of how beautiful an effect this technique is.  How can you not just let this beautiful paper speak for itself!  A sentiment and ribbon is all that is needed to turn this pretty paper into a fabulous wedding card.

Scrapbooking… and so it begins!

While card making is my first paper crafting love, I have always said that I would like to start scrapbooking my families memories.  Other than some fairly rudimentary photo books, most of our memories are in the Gigabytes of my computer.  Since many of my card class customers are also scrapbookers I have finally given into the request for a scrapbooking class… taking me out of my comfort zone for sure.  I have just finished my second class, but thought I would share the first one here:

We completed this class in August which is a perfect time for a road trip.  These pictures are of a trip my daughter made to PEI.  Can you believe they have a two story high potato sculpture outside of the PEI Potato Museum!?!

It takes some getting used to seeing the layouts without pictures because of the big open spaces:

The class was an excellent success!  So slowly it looks like I will meet my goals to create some fun memory pages!

Sea of Textures brings the ocean to life

Everybody loves the Octopus’ Garden in the Sea.  I just love how the Tranquil Textures suite from Stampin’ Up! brings the sea garden to life!  Using a sentiment like “It’s your day”  allows the card to be used for almost any person for many different events.  Lot’s of die cutting in this card but it was tons of fun to put together!

I think this was the first easel card that I have created.  I don’t know why I haven’t done one before.  They are super easy and stand out so nicely!  This is one with a simple fold but I see more in my future.

Hello Little Elephant

Sometimes I get the opportunity to attend a Crop Day with a friend or two.  These days are interesting as paper crafting is very much like camping.  Whether you go for a couple hours or a couple days you need to pack everything except the kitchen sink.  One of the best ways to take ink is to bring the Stampin’ Write Markers.  I store mine in standard stamp cases which allows you to bring our entire colour selection in 5 cases!  While most attendees were busy creating fun layouts to preserve family memories, I chose to tidy up a few bits and pieces and I designed this card for a new little addition… now I just need to find someone expecting one!

Soft Sea Foam is a new favourite colour in our line up.  It’s just perfect for baby cards for both boys and girls!  The soft colours of the stamping is achieved by colouring the markers straight onto the stamp.  The ink always seems to be a step lighter shade of the ink pad when you use this method.

Do you see the Subtle texture on the layer of Soft Sea Foam?  That is is the new Subtle Dynamic Impressions Embossing Folder (whew that’s a mouthful).  It is so subtle that you can’t really see what it does when you look at the picture in the catalogue.  It gives the paper a lovely linen look and adds nice interest to the card!

Happy Wishes for You and my 5th Year with WordPress

I signed into WordPress this morning after having missed posting at all in July and was reminded that I signed up for this blog page 5 years ago.  So happy blogiversary to me! Well, I certainly haven’t given my blog the love it deserves but I am trying to make it more regularly.

Summers are so busy and this July was no exception.  One of the cards that we made at my July class was a basic ink to block background with the classic Happy Wishes for You stamp set.Watermarked2(2018-08-09-1039)

By applying ink (in this case my new fav… Mango Melody) straight to the clear stamp block and stamping it onto the shimmer white cardstock you can add dimension to your card without adding another layer.  I recommend the stampin’ pierce mat under your paper to obtain even coverage of ink.  After stamping we used the leftover ink from the block and our aquapainter to blend and fill it any white areas left.  Once dry the Happy Birthday was stamped with Stazon Ink and the Birthday was coloured in with the dark Pumpkin Pie Blends.  Gotta love those Blends markers for easy even coverage!  A little pizzazz was added using the fireworks stamp from the Birthday Background set, Faceted Dots and then word Happy and the banner were stamped onto shimmer white, fussy cut and glued onto the card to stand out 🙂 A thin black border and a Mango Melody card base make your Birthday greeting pop of the page!  I like to add a Whisper White insert and my envelope both decorated with a coordinating stamp.

Throw back Thursday – travel treats

I know that when people think of Throw Back Thursday they usually post about things they have made in the past.  However, this creation is one that I made today.  All items are Stampin’ Up! but only two things are current and even one of those is on it’s way out.

Today I was creating for my other job where I have been organizing a trip for 32 people to Germany and Austria as part of one of the factories celebrating their Customer Days. We are sending out plane tickets, itineraries and the official invitation to each couple in the group.  I visited Mrs. B’s, our local chocolatier, to get a delectable milk chocolate treat to include in the package but couldn’t resist having a little fun with them first.

Happy Stamping!
